War veterans from Afrin and Shehba demand freedom for Öcalan

Abdullah Öcalan has been held in solitary confinement on the prison island of Imrali since the international conspiracy that resulted in his handover to Turkey in 1999.

War veterans from Afrin and Shehba gathered at the Berxwedan Camp in the Fafin district of the Shehba Canton to denounce the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan and to demand his physical freedom.

The press statement in Kurdish and Arabic pointed out that a stronger struggle would be waged against the special war policies against the people, saying: “We reiterate our promise to enhance our struggle. In addition, we will be shields against the war against our people. Our actions will not stop until the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Öcalan is secured.”

Defining the absolute isolation of Öcalan as unacceptable, the statement called for an end to the isolation and the Turkish fascism that violates international law.

“We will follow the path of Leader Öcalan’s ideas and philosophy,” said the statement and called on the people in four parts of Kurdistan and Europe to rise up for the freedom of Öcalan.
