In a statement on Thursday, the People's Defence Units (YPG) announced that one of their fighters, Şahîn Şehba, died as a result of poisoning in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo.
Şahîn Şehba, whose real name was Mihemed Enco, was born in Aleppo. According to the statement, he joined the YPG in 2022. "Comrade Şahîn came from the tradition of resistance of our people in Aleppo. With the occupation of Afrin, he recognised the reality of the enemy and went in search of ways to ensure the liberation of our people. He found what he was looking for in our ranks," wrote the YPG.
Describing Şahîn Şehba as a champion of free life, YPG stated: "Without hesitation, he was committed to enabling our people to live in freedom and to liberating our occupied cities from the clutches of the enemy. To this ideal he remained committed till his last breath."
THE YPG expressed its condolences to the family of the fallen fighter and to the public of northern and eastern Syria.
