YPG commander Bahoz Amed died defending Ain Issa on 17 November 2023. The press office of the People's Protection Units (YPG) said in a statement that Bahoz Amed's real name was Ehmet Ali, and that he came from Afrin.
The statement added: "Heval Bahoz joined the YPG in 2012 and took part in the Rojava revolution. At the time of the most violent attacks between 2014 and 2019, he fought against the enemy with high morale and great self-confidence."
The statement continued: "In 2016 he played an important role in the operation against Islamist militias in Shehba and in 2018 he was at the forefront of resistance against the Turkish invasion of Afrin. Most recently he was a front commander in Ain Issa, where he died last November while carrying out an action he led against the Turkish mercenary occupying forces."
The YPG said Bahoz Amed was a "courageous militant with great military skills who took responsibility and looked after his fellow fighters with great dedication. We remember our fallen comrade Bahoz with respect and pride. His commitment to the revolution and the legacy of his experience form the basis of our continued struggle."
