YPJ says one of its members fell as a martyr

The YPJ General Command said that one of its fighters, Jaklîn Ehmed (Nejbir Zagros), fell as a martyr as a result of an accident on 5 July.

The General Command of the Women's Defense Units (YPJ) said in a statement that one of its members, Jaklîn Ehmed (Nejbir Zagros), fell as a martyr as a result of an accident on 5 July.

The statement said: "With the rise and growth of the Rojava Revolution in Northern and Eastern Syria, the spirit of protecting the values of the revolution reached its peak among women and young people. Thousands of young women and men joined the ranks of the revolution for this purpose and became the main force of the Rojava women's revolution.

Our comrade Jaklîn Ehmed, code-named Nejbîr Zagros, who was born in the resistance city of Kobanê, created a generation that recognized itself and protected its national values in the historical Kobanê resistance. Comrade Nejbîr joined the ranks of freedom in 2020."

The statement continued: "Despite her young age, our comrade Nejbîr had a great sense of freedom. For this reason, she was fighting against the invasion and attacks targeting our people. She soon shaped her personality according to the principles of free living and joined our troops as a young woman. She took her place in the Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT) to further strengthen her fight against all kinds of terrorist attacks and she improved herself ideologically and militarily.

Our comrade Nejbîr Zagros died as a result of an accident on 5 July while on duty. We express our condolences to all our patriotic people, especially to the family of our comrade Nejbîr. We, her comrades, will continue our struggle to build a free individual and a free society."
