Throughout Europe, the Kurdish women's movement remembered the Kurdish women Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez, who were murdered in Paris eight years ago, and demanded in front of French consulates that the perpetrators be punished.
Demonstrations were staged on Wednesday in Paris, Berlin, Hanover, Düsseldorf, Münster, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Saarbrücken, Bern, Geneva, Brussels, The Hague and Strasbourg.
Berlin
A black wreath was laid in front of the French Embassy in Berlin in memory of the Kurdish women Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez, who were murdered in Paris eight years ago.
Düsseldorf
At a rally in front of the French consulate in Düsseldorf, which was also attended by members of the Kurdish women's councils from Dortmund, Cologne, Duisburg, Essen and Bonn, the activists pointed out France's responsibility, saying: "Because of its responsibility, the French government must announce and condemn the remaining culprits," the activists demanded.
Hanover
In Hanover, too, activists gathered in front of the French Honorary Consulate and called for those responsible for the killing of Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez to be brought to justice.
During the demonstration organized by the Ronahî Women's Council, activists emphasized the importance of the murdered women for the Kurdistan Freedom Movement and the Kurdish women's movement and made it clear that Kurdish women will not rest until this crime is also solved. The participants laid a wreath in front of the Honorary Consulate.
Münster
In front of the main station in Münster, a rally was organised by the nationwide women's umbrella organization YJK-E. In a speech the importance of Sakine Cansiz for the women's liberation movement was pointed out.
Frankfurt
In Frankfurt, a black wreath was laid in front of the French consulate and a call was made for a demonstration at the main train station on Saturday.
Hamburg
A black wreath was laid in front of the French consulate in Hamburg. Hatice Kaya spoke on behalf of the Rojbîn Women's Council and said: "We have not forgotten our companions nor their murderers."
Saarbrücken and Munich
During protests in front of the French consulates in Saarbrücken and Munich, it was pointed out that the Paris murders were committed by the Turkish secret service MIT on the orders of Turkish leader Erdogan. Although the French state is aware of this truth, no one is being brought to justice for it, the participants said.
Switzerland
The Mizgin Women's Council demanded in front of the French Embassy in Bern that those responsible for the Paris murders be sentenced. In Geneva, a protest took place in front of the UN headquarters demanding that Erdogan be brought before an international court.
Brussels
In front of the French consulate in Brussels, the role of France in the Paris contract killing was denounced.
London
In London, a black wreath was laid in front of the French Embassy.
