European delegation visits Rojava representative office in Sulaymaniyah

A delegation comprising members of the European Parliament and various political organizations visited the representative office of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in Sulaymaniyah.

A delegation comprising members of the European Parliament and various political organizations visited the representative office of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in Sulaymaniyah.

The delegation is made up of European Parliament Left Party Co-Chair Martin Schirdewan, Rosa Luxembourg Foundation Deputy Director Philip Degenhard, German Democratic Party Representative Fayik Yağızay, his advisor Dr. Sarah Glynn, and Left Party Deputy Co-Chair Nora Friese.

The delegation was welcomed by members of the representative office. The agenda for the visit included political developments in the Middle East, the state of democracy, and the threat posed by ISIS.

Fethula Huseynî, member of the Executive Committee of the Representative Office of North and East Syria, stated that the visit was important both symbolically and politically. Huseynî said that the delegation would travel to Rojava the following day to meet with institutions in the region and show its support for the people of Rojava.

The delegation then visited the Sulaymaniyah Governorate. The meeting was closed to the press.

In addition, the delegation is expected to meet with Bafel Jalal Talabani, leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), and visit Mam Celal Talabani's grave.
