MHP chair, Devlet Bahçeli, has made a new statement regarding Abdullah Öcalan’s historic call. Speaking to Türkgün newspaper, Bahçeli acknowledged the importance of Öcalan’s appeal on 27 February, stating that "the nation is in hopeful anticipation".

He added that it is in "our hands to turn this expectation into joy rather than disappointment," and emphasized that "a Turkey free of terrorism will be a Turkey where democracy is stronger." He noted that "as the world undergoes a new geopolitical transformation, this process can be turned into an opportunity for Turkey."

Arguing that "this phase could pave the way for a new political and social order in Turkey," Bahçeli also cautioned that major transformations come with both opportunities and risks. He stressed that "multiple dynamics must be managed carefully. As mentioned in Imrali’s call, weapons must be laid down immediately, a congress must be convened swiftly, and a decision to dissolve the PKK and its components should be implemented. Comprehensive reforms should further strengthen national unity, with justice and equality as guiding principles."

Claiming that a "national and inclusive constitution will completely eradicate the remnants of coups," Bahçeli emphasized the importance of creating "a system in which everyone feels represented." He concluded by calling on "all citizens to unite in national solidarity and brotherhood under the principles of "Turkey Above All" and "Everyone is Equal in Turkey" to collectively build Turkey’s future."
