Protest spreads to social media after rape of a girl in Gercüş
The sexual assaults of a child by state officials in Gercüş, in Batman have been responded with a social media campaign.
A 15-year-old girl in a village of Gercüş went to hospital complaining about abdominal pain. Doctors discovered that the girl had been raped and was pregnant.
Upon the complaint, two men named M.A. and V.A., were arrested. According to a report by Jinnews on 5 December, 27 people, including police, sergeant and village guards, were involved in the rape.
Although the investigation widened following the news of Jinnews, only 11 men were added to the investigation.
According to the same report, in addition to the 15-year-old girl, two women were dragged into prostitution in the village in question.
Women launched an action throughout social network with the hashtag "#GercüşteNeOlan?".
HDP executives and deputies joined the virtual action with their posts and shares.
