Sara Women's Movement in Sweden held its 9th Congress in Västerås.

The congress started with a minute of silence for the martyrs of Kurdistan and continued with the opening speech of Ayşe Didar, one of the spokespersons of the Sara Women's movement.

Ayşe Didar started her speech by greeting all women who resist and struggle.

Stating that the congress took place in an important period, Ayşe Didar stated that the slogan "We are marching to women's revolution with Jin Jiyan Azadî" has found acceptance by women in Kurdistan and around the world.

Emphasising the need to focus on women's organisation in Scandinavia, Ayşe Didar stated that reaching out to every woman and acting jointly with other women's organisations would accelerate the struggle.

The congress emphasised the need for women to take a more active role in creating a national spirit and the importance of joint action against all kinds of attacks.

The congress continued with messages from women's organisations KJAR, Tevgera Azadi Jin and Kongra Star.

In the section where the political process was evaluated, it was stated that male-dominated, racist, religious and nationalist ideologies have regressed with the strengthening of the democratic, ecological and women's liberationist paradigm. It was emphasised that the historical resistance of the Kurdish women's movement in particular showed that the 21st century will be the century of women.

While the organisation of the women's movement in Scandinavia was elaborated, it was decided to actively participate in the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question" campaign to lift the aggravated isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and ensure his physical freedom.

The congress also called for a struggle against the Swedish state's criminalisation and terrorisation of the Kurds and for the Swedish government to put an end to these practices. The Sara Women's movement has planned various actions across Scandinavia in the next three months. In particular, various actions were planned throughout Scandinavia for 22 May within the framework of the international campaign "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question" which was launched globally by the friends of the Kurds last October.
