French Kurdish Women's Movement announces week-long program to mark 8 March

“Resist, organize, live free!” is the slogan under which the women will hold their actions on 8 March this year. TJK-F announced the events to be held throughout France.

The French Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-F) France and Ile De France councils and communes announced the calendar of actions and events they will hold on the occasion of 8 March, International Working Women's Day.

In a written statement, TJK-F called on women to join forces against isolation and fascism on the occasion of the upcoming 8 March International Working Women's Day, and called for participation in the demos and events in the country.

Time to resist

Reminding that there is a war trying to normalize the massacre of women in the world where the male-dominated mind prevails, the TJK-F said that war, migration and unemployment, the aggression of fascism, the epidemic and the crisis hit women the most. “In this sense, women are effective partners against the dominant male fascism and genocidal practices. It is time to take action and resist. We are ready to welcome this year’s 8 March with all our women's councils and communes across France.”

The event calendar includes panels, women's festivals, and painting exhibitions. The TJK-F said that the agenda of the panels will be held in the axis of self-defense, resistance, the Paris Massacre, the search for justice and the political developments in the country, and said, "2022 will be the year of resistance."

Actions will kick off on 1 March

As part of the events, a reception will be held with the participation of French solidarity institutions at the opening of an exhibition in Paris about the resistance of Kurdish women. The exhibition by Aslı Filiz is called “Our Hands on the Waist”.

Women's meetings will be held, as well as film screenings on women and their struggle.

Strike and march on 8 March

Apart from the activities, the TJK-F also played an active role in the preparations for the strike and march in France and Paris-Ile De France on 8 March.

We defend life, freedom, justice and equality

The Paris 8 March strike and march, which has been preparing for the last two months with 34 women's organizations, unions and political parties, will begin at Gare Du Nord in memory of 3 Kurdish women revolutionaries killed in Paris in January 2013, Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez.

On 8 March, the day of action, the children were not forgotten. Babysitters will be arranged at the association's premises to allow women to join the march.
