The campaign “100 reasons to prosecute the dictator”, launched by the Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E), is coming to an end. In Switzerland alone, 17,000 people have signed the petition to now.
On 25 November 2020, the Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) - International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women - launched a petition to indict Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as the person responsible for the misogynist policy of the Turkish regime. The collection of signatures will run until 8 March, International Women’s Day.
In Switzerland alone, 17,000 people have signed the petition to now. In an interview with ANF, Lava Alarabo, co-chair of the Kurdish Society Center in Basel and activist at the Women's Council Ronahî, said the campaign was being carried out together with Swiss women's organizations and is about to achieve its goal.
She said: “We can say that the efforts to present the reality of Erdoğan's dictatorship to the international public have been successful. Almost 80 percent of the signatures come from the Swiss population." Alarabo underlined her conviction that Erdoğan will one day be brought to justice, but also warned about the ignorance of femicides in Europe. "Unfortunately in Europe there is a tendency to ignore femicides, which makes them invisible. Even in a country like Switzerland, six women have been murdered since January 2021."
