YJK-E: Let's cover all areas with women's colour on Newroz

“Let's cover all areas with our women's colour and create a free society together with our spirit of resistance and rebellion, just like we did on March 8, International Working Women's Day.”

The Association of Women from Kurdistan in Germany (YJK-E) released a statement calling for action on the upcoming Kurdish New Year Newroz on March 21.

“Despite concepts of destruction and denial against our people and the bans and crackdowns in Bakur (North Kurdistan) on March 8, the Kurdish women gave a lesson to the AKP-MHP dictator regime coalition with their resistance, vowing that the 21st century will be the century of women. Women took to the streets on March 8 for their own freedom and the freedom of society,” said the YJK-E statement released on Tuesday.

'LET'S GROW RESISTANCE, CREATE A FREE SOCIETY'

“This women's resistance will usher in a new era of freedom with Newroz, and will be an answer to betrayal, denial and genocide by embracing the legacy of the rebellion that Kawa launched with the fire of freedom in the mountains and Mazlum ignited with three matchsticks in prison,” the statement continued.

“Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan lifted the veil of death on the Kurdish people and illuminated their way,” it said.

“The 'Dem Dema Azadiye' (Time for Freedom) campaign is significant since the freedom of the Kurdish leader is looming up. With the awareness that the freedom of Öcalan is our freedom, we will win by increasing our resistance and stoking up the fire of peace and freedom of Newroz,” it added.

YJK-E concluded, “Let's cover all areas with our women's colour and create a free society together with our spirit of resistance and rebellion, just like we did on March 8, International Working Women's Day.”
