3 million 700 thousand signatures for “Freedom for Öcalan”

The People's Initiative in North and East Syria announced that 3,669,090 signatures were collected for the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The signature campaign launched by the People's Initiative in North and East Syria since 9 February for the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been completed.

The People's Initiative stated that the signature campaign was concluded with 3,669,090 signatures.

According to the Initiative, the collected signatures will be sent to the Council of the European Union and all human rights organisations and institutions.


The distribution of collected signatures in North-East Syria is as follows:

Manbij: 711,180

Raqqa: 701,845

Qamishlo: 625,343

Hesekê 603,800

Deir ez-Zor 337,70

Tabqa: 281,332

Euphrates Canton: 134,570

Aleppo: 103,857

Afrin and Shehba Canton: 51,212.

The statement said that a total of 6,243 signatures were collected in Damascus, Aleppo, Latakia, Suwayda, Quneitra, Salamiyah, Tartus, Hama and Homs. It was also noted that while the number of signatures received from Kurdish migrants in Lebanon was 12,000, 100,000 signatures were collected by the Self-Defence Forces (HPC).
