Temel Karamollaoğlu, Chairman of Saadet (Felicity) Party, reacted to the government’s usurpation of the will of the people in Van and said, "The people of Van have made their decision and elected their mayor."
Saadet (Felicity) Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu spoke out against the reversal of the decision to reinstate the rights of Abdullah Zeydan, who was elected co-mayor of Van Metropolitan Municipality, and the granting of the post to the AKP candidate who lost the election on 31 March.
Karamollaoğlu made the following statement on X:
"There is an inconsistency in the AKP government's understanding of democracy and justice. Making an elected mayor 'politically banned' by the judiciary as a result of a manipulation two days before the election is to ignore the national will. The people of Van have made their decision and elected their mayor. The judiciary saying 'no' to what the YSK (Supreme Election Board) said 'yes' has shown the weakness between the institutions of the state. This behaviour is unacceptable in any way."
