Amed Metropolitan Municipality to promote free cinema screenings and theatre plays in September

The Amed Metropolitan Municipality will organize free cinema, theater screenings, Dengbej and other concerts throughout September.

The September events organized by the Amed Metropolitan Municipality Department of Culture and Social Affairs are kicking off at the Çand Amed Culture and Congress Center. All free cinema and theater screenings, Dengbej sessions and concerts will begin today, Saturday.

The series of events will start with the film Di Nawberê de (In Between), directed by Ali Kemal Çınar. The film Elif Ana, directed by Kazım Öz and Semir Aslanyürek, will be presented tomorrow, Sunday.

Amed city theater opens its curtains

On 20 September, the Amed Metropolitan Municipality City Theater will open its curtains with the Kurdish adaptation of Cervantes' famous novel Don Kixot. The play will also be performed on 27 and 28 September.

The film Biryareke Zor (A Difficult Decision), written and directed by Ender Özkahraman, tells the story of a young woman who works in a rug workshop in Hakkari (Colemêrg) and finds herself in completely different situations while dreaming of having a nose surgery with the money she has saved. The film, starring Şükran Aktı and Feyyaz Duman, will be screened on 21 September.

The film Pîrebok, written and directed by Lütfi Irdem with Nurullah Kaya, will be screened on 22 September. The film tells the story of Adem, a poor and hunchbacked man who goes after the legendary Pîrebok.

Dengbej session on 24 September

Among the events is a session organized by the dengbej, the most important representatives of oral culture. The Dengbej session will be held at the convention center on 24 September.

More movies

The movie Memories On Stone, directed by Shavkat Amin Korki and starring Hussein Hassan and Nazmi Kırık, will be shown on 28 September, while the movie Gênco, written, directed and acted by Ali Kemal Çınar and awarded the Best Film Award at the 28th Ankara International Film Festival, will be screened on 29 September.

The September events will end with a concert by Kardeş Türküler and the Hevra group on 29 September at Şêx Seîd (Dağkapı) Square.
