Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Kurdish Studies created in Brazil

The Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Kurdish Studies was created in Brazil.

NUPIEC - Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Kurdish Studies, is a research group based in the Postgraduate Program in Law at PUC Minas, Brazil.

NUPIEC focuses on studies developed in the context of the Kurdish Question, especially those focused on the region of Western Kurdistan (Rojava), from the year 2012. Rojava (West in Kurmanji - one of the languages spoken in the region), is the territory located in North-Northeast Syria, and since 2012 the Kurdish peoples have established, through organized resistance, democratic autonomy in a system of confederate municipalities (organized in the system of Democratic Confederalism) called the Autonomous Administration of North-Northeast Syria.

The concepts and contexts exposed here challenge the limits of academic research, so a specific and interdisciplinary approach is necessary so that we can understand this phenomenon, which is historical, political and social.
