DEM Party Co-Chairs attend the Easter celebration in Mardin

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan visited Mardin Metropolitan Municipality and attended the Easter celebration.

DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan visited Mardin Metropolitan Municipality on Sunday. The Co-Chairs and the accompanying delegation then attended the Easter celebration in Kırklar Church. The delegation was welcomed by Metropolitan Mor Filüksinos Saliba Özmen, Archpriest Hori Gabriel Akyüz and citizens and congratulated the Syriacs on Easter.

Metropolitan Mor Filüksinos Saliba Özmen said: "All human beings are precious and all human beings are brothers and sisters. We need each other to protect humanity. We need to hold each other's hand and help each other. The world belongs to all of us. Heaven and hell are both in the heart of man. If a person is good and beautiful, he is living in heaven. The opposite is also the case. The essence of man is goodness and beauty. Man is a strong being. He can stay in his essence with his will".

Tülay Hatimoğulları said, "We hope that Easter will contribute to strengthening this fraternity. War and conflict do not end in our region. Therefore, the main thing we want is peace. We can build a geography where we can live our faith and worship freely. As the DEM Party, we are endeavouring for this geography and these lands to attain peace."

Tuncer Bakırhan also celebrated Easter and said, "Every identity should live freely. I know that the days when we will live freely in these lands are not far away."

The Co-Chairs and the leaders of the Syriac community then clinked Easter eggs.
