The People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Language and Culture Commission announced the program of actions and events to be held within the scope of 21 February, World Mother Language Day.

The DEM Party Amed Provincial Organization said that the events will begin today and will continue until Wednesday 21 February. DEM Party Language and Culture Commission co-spokespersons Cemile Turhallı and Heval Dilbihar announced the program.

Dilbihar said that they will hold various events in the cities of Turkey and Kurdistan, including marches, press releases, Kurdish lessons, panels, leaflet distribution, festivals and demonstrations in the parliament.

On Sunday, between 6 and 10pm, Kurdish music will be listened to in homes, workplaces and everywhere and speeches will be shared on social media.

A hashtag campaign on the Kurdish language will be held at 9 pm on Tuesday 20 February. Kurdish lessons will be given in the streets and neighbourhoods starting today and until 21 February. A march to demand a status for the Kurdish language will be held in different cities of Turkey and Kurdistan from Monday to Wednesday.

In addition, there will be statements to demand the recognition of the Kurdish language as an official language and 100 thousand leaflets will be distributed.

Some of the cities where events will be held are as follows: "Amed, Van, Siirt, Mardin, Batman, Şirnak, Adiyaman, Antep, Urfa, Hakkari, Dersim, Muş, Bitlis, Kars, Erzurum, Maraş , Malatya, Mersin, Antalya, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Tekirdağ, Izmir, Manisa, Aydın, Muğla, Balıkesir, Ankara, Konya."

DEM Party MPs will hold different actions in the parliament on 19-20-21 February, Heval Dilbihar said, inviting everyone to attend the different events. "We invite all our people to join our protests. Participate in our programs with our dresses and colours. Raise your voice in Kurdish everywhere."
