As part of the international action days for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, the exhibition "Fikir-Zikir-Çalakî - Journey into a new tomorrow" opened in Milan and Heidelberg.
The exhibition "Fikir-Zikir-Çalakî - Journey into a new tomorrow" opened on Monday evening in Heidelberg. From Kurdish folk songs, to internationalist workers and resistance songs, to poems and a concert by Koma Azad, the day ended with a Govend.
In Milan, the exhibition was organized by women members of Rete Jin. The opening was by performer Denise Valenti, a member of the Brera Fine Arts Academy.
The exhibition "Fikir-Zikir-Çalakî" was created by the women's movement TJK-E as part of the Global Free Öcalan Days of the campaign "Freedom for Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question" and is being exhibited in various European cities.
In Heidelberg, the exhibition has been organized in cooperation with the movement of militant young women (TekoJIN), internationalists and young people from the city.
The women's movement is organizing a five-day program within these action days: a concert, Kurdish food, a seminar with a former lawyer of Abdullah Öcalan about the international conspiracy on 9 October 1998, when Öcalan was forced to leave Syria due to international pressure from Turkey and NATO and embarked on an odyssey for a peace process that culminated in his abduction from the Greek embassy in Nairobi to the Turkish prison island of Imrali on 15 February 1999 by an international secret service operation.
20 quotes by Abdullah Öcalan
The exhibition consists of 20 quotes by Abdullah Öcalan. A selection of photos for each quote gives an insight into how Öcalan's analyses, words and ideas are put into practice in the Kurdish liberation struggle.
The organizers said in their presentation of the exhibition: "The words you see in this exhibition refer to Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan]. Öcalan's words and observations on various aspects of life have always been a source of inspiration for the struggle of the Kurdish people, especially for women.
That is why we chose 'fikir, zikir, çalakî' as the main theme of the exhibition. We hope that these photographs, which show the unity of thought, word and deed, will contribute to the understanding of the struggle of the Kurdish people and Öcalan's resistance in deep isolation."
