Filmamed Doc Festival in May

Diyarbakır's Kayapınar Deputy Mayor Mahmut Dağ has announced the program of the third Filmamed Documentary Film Festival organized by Cegerxwin Youth and Culture and Art Center.

Dağ remarked that the festival, which will last from 20 to 26 May, is an activity of importance in terms of presenting, documenting and introducing the cultural and artistic values of the Kurdish people and other peoples in the Middle East. Dağ said that the purpose of the festival was to get Kurdish and opponent film-makers together with the people.

Stating that the festival will enable people to voice their free thoughts, Dağ noted that they also intend to present the documentary films that have been subjected to direct or indirect cencorship and ban in Turkey so far. "We will also give project support awards with an aim to support young film-makers and to pave the way for an increase in documentary film production", he added.

Dağ remarked that they will be displaying positive discrimination about the presentation of films that were directed by women or are handling the problems of women. All films will be displayed with Kurdish subtitles, he added.
