Green Left Party Co-Spokespersons urged voters living abroad to go to the polls to “change together.”
In an interview with ANF, the Green Left Party Co-Spokespersons Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and İbrahim Akın addressed the voters abroad.
Putting emphasis on the historical significance of the 14 May elections, the co-spokespersons called on the voters abroad to take responsibility and to be actively involved in the election campaign to start a new process.
Co-Spokeswoman Kılıçgün said: “We are going to a critical and historic election together. These elections will, in a sense, be an account of the last century. We will also see how the next century will be shaped.
We, as the Green Left Party, are much stronger than anyone else on the field, together with the Labour and Freedom Alliance and the Kurdish Freedom and Democracy Alliance. You can be sure of that.
When we evaluate the 14 May elections, the voter turnout and responsibility of the voters and our peoples in Europe, as well as the voters here, will be very decisive and critical. We know that many of our people from Turkey and Kurdistan have migrated abroad because of the political, legal and economic violence of the current government. This situation itself has increased the number of external voters in Europe and their influence. We call on all our peoples in Europe to convince other voters to go to the polls.
These elections are not just about a change of power, not just for a political party to win. It is about the victory of our struggle, of women who believe in the democratic struggle, the Kurds, the Alevis, all peoples and beliefs in Turkey, workers and young people. What is at stake is an equal, liberal and democratic future. In this sense, we are trying to fight as much as we can and we urge our peoples in Europe to be a part of this process, while we have come so close to winning and putting the one-man regime into reverse. Our motto is 'We are here, we will change together'. There may be a physical distance between us, but we are together. You are there, we are here, and we will change together.”
Co-Spokesperson Akın said: “We would like to thank all our friends abroad who contribute to the election campaign. Turkey will see a historic election. On May 14, we will close the gates of hell and start a new process. We are happy and determined. We believe that we will change together. The election campaign carried out in Turkey is very good and enthusiastic. As I greet you all, you know that external votes will be very important to influence the results in Turkey. I expect strong support from all of you and wish you success.”
