Democratic Confederalism and the Global Trade Union Movement – An Interview with Simon Dubbins

Simon Dubbins, Director of International for Unite the Union, spoke about Democratic Confederalism and the Global Trade Union Movement.

Connor Hayes spoke with Simon Dubbins, Director of International for Unite the Union, about his background and history with the trade union movement in the UK, his long-standing work on international issues within the trade union movement, the history and work of the Freedom for Ocalan UK trade union campaign, the theory and practice of democratic confederalism and its relation to the socialist tradition, and the status of labour organisation and the global trade union movement at the present juncture.

Simon Dubbins is Director of International and Research for UNITE the Union in the UK, coordinating the European and International work of UNITE across all its sectors. Simon has previously worked for the Graphical Paper and Media Union, and was the Head of International for AMICUS. He is also the co-convenor of the Freedom for Ocalan Campaign, and a patron and a supporter of the Peace in Kurdistan Campaign.

Connor Hayes is an activist, researcher, and a student of philosophy. He was a member of the 2019 International Peace Delegation to Imrali.
