Jeffrey meets Masoud and Masrour Barzani in Erbil

The situation in Iraq and Syria were discussed during the meeting between Jeffrey and Masoud Barzani.

The US special envoy for the global coalition against ISIS, James Jeffrey has arrived in the Erbil (Hewler) city of Federal Kurdistan Region for a series of talks on Saturday.

As part of his visit, Jeffrey has met with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Leader Masoud Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

The Jeffrey-Masoud Barzani meeting was also attended by Major General Eric Hill and Consul General Steven Fagin.

During the meeting, Barzani and Jeffrey exchanged views on the current circumstances in Iraq, particularly the protests in Baghdad and southern Iraq, according to a statement by Barzani’s Office.

The two sides also discussed the situation in Syria, especially the situation of the Kurds there. They also spoke of the continuous threat of the terrorists of the ISIS. Both President Barzani and the US delegation concurred that the threat of the terrorists is still there in Iraq, Syria and beyond and that all sides must remain cautious.

Jeffrey then met KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. The recent ISIS attacks against Kurdish forces in the disputed territories were discussed during the meeting.
