In the town of Sirrin near Kobanê, the Internal Security Forces of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria held a public meeting to listen to the concerns, criticisms, and suggestions of the residents and to further develop the work of the security authorities accordingly.
The event at the local cultural and arts center began with a minute of silence for the martyrs. Duran Haşimi, representative of the Internal Security Forces Public Relations Office, emphasized the importance of such meetings and said: "In all regions where we operate, we consciously seek dialogue with the people. We take criticism seriously, adapt our working methods and pass on concerns directly to our central command. He noted that their aim is to strengthen a citizen-oriented security structure and build trust.
The participants took the opportunity to draw attention to various problems in everyday life. Among other things, there were calls to keep children away from mopeds and weapons. In addition, several residents spoke out against so-called “celebratory gunfire” at weddings and public celebrations—a practice that is considered dangerous and disruptive.
The security forces promised to incorporate the suggestions into their future planning and to focus more strongly on prevention and awareness-raising in the future.
