Rojava intelligence units operated to neutralize the ISIS mercenary cells that got reactivated following the invasion attacks in Rojava and Northe East Syria. A cell connected to the Turkish state was dismantled.
As soon as the invasion attacks launched by the Turkish state began on 9 October, sleeper ISIS cells, which had kept quiet in many areas of Rojava and North East Syria, got reactivated.
One of the cells carried out a bomb attack in Münir Habip street, in Qamishlo, on 11 October, the third day of invasion.
Another cell carried out an attack in Hesekê targeting a prison where ISIS mercenaries were jailed on 12 October.
Rojava Intelligence Units also got on the move as soon as the invasion attacks began.
Rojava Intelligence, organised in special units, has been working incessantly to neutralize sleeper ISIS cells. They succeeded in dismantled one of these cells in Qamishlo.
Speaking to ANF, a special unit member confirmed that ISIS cells have been working in close coordination with the Turkish state. The cell dismantled in Qamishlo provided useful information to the Rojava Intelligence Units as to the information ISIS shared with the Turkish state.
"The cells - he said - shared vital information about YPG, Autonomous Administration and public institutions with the Turkish state. They gave the coordinates of the military regions and the autonomous administration places. They set up secret cells for assassination and sabotage."
In addition, according to the information given by the intelligence official, three members of the dismantled cell took part in mercenary groups during the occupation launched by the Turkish state in 2016 against Jarablus. The operation was called "Euphrates Shield".
It is stated that the two mercenaries captured in Qamishlo had gone there from Manbij and planned massacres.
The special unit member also added that members of ISIS cell "confessed that they carried out many assassinations and that they carried out bomb attacks in different places. They came to Qamishlo from Manbij to begin preparations for a much bigger massacre. If this cell had not been dismantled, - said the officer - they would have carried out a massacre that could have cost many people their lives."
The members of the dismantled cell also provided the Rojava Intelligence Units with an address where a large number of weapons and explosives were sezied.
