PKK’s Demirtaş: They will pay the price

PKK Education Committee Member Demirtaş stated that the destruction of Hasankeyf has created an unlimited rage with them and that “They will pay the price”.

Nurettin Demirtaş said, “Do they think attacking all over with the mindset of ISIS and Taliban, destroying Hasankeyf won’t be accounted for?” and stressed: “Their temples with a thousand doors will crumble one day.”

PKK Education Committee Member Nurettin Demirtaş spoke to the ANF about the AKP-MHP fascism continuing to demolish Hasankeyf. Nurettin Demirtaş said humans can only exist with their history and culture and the genocide regime today is attempting to destroy the Kurdish society, history and culture completely through their attacks on Hasankeyf. Demirtaş said Hasankeyf has been targeted for years and has suffered many wounds, but still resisted: “The rage this has created with us knows no bounds. The AKP-MHP fascism will pay for this. They will pay the steep price of such a vile and violent attack against history, society and culture.”

TO SUPPORT HASANKEYF

“But we as the society must be able to see supporting Hasankeyf as part of a total resistance against a genocidal regime,” said Demirtaş and stated that resistance can’t develop with just one person chaining himself to the grounds. Demirtaş continued: “Yes, it is meaningful and it is valuable. But the resistance has to spread to society. They will suffer the regret of the Hasankeyf incident forever. When society springs into action they will live this regret. We can expand and develop our actions without limit. We can unearth the strength and energy to defeat fascism.”

THEIR TEMPLES WILL CRUMBLE

“Does the AKP-MHP fascism think they won’t have to answer for attacking all over with the mindset of ISIS and Taliban, for destroying Hasankeyf?” asked Demirtaş and continued: “Their temples with a thousand doors will crumble one day. Of course we will protect history, society and culture. We will struggle to keep them alive to the end. The attacks on Hasankeyf and Sur are signs that they have sworn to destroy our people through genocide. We are facing an AKP-MHP fascism that hates even our stones. They hate even the stones of the Kurdish people. They are trying to destroy even the stones, under such circumstances we will take down fascism with the very same rocks and have a revolution.”

IT’S NOT JUST A SYMBOLIC MEANING

Demirtaş pointed out that people are imprisoned and killed, then social reflex is weakened and unlimited attacks are unleashed on cultural and historic values, and continued: “It’s not just a symbolic meaning. One of them is the heart of Amed, and the other is the most historic site in Kurdistan along the Tigris Valley. They are trying to destroy them along with all the life they hold within.”

THERE SHOULD BE GREAT AWARENESS

PKK Education Committee Member Nurettin Demirtaş said the awareness against this should be great and stressed the following: “Millions should mobilize at once and respond. We have lived through these days in the past, today we can do it stronger. Demonstrations gaining permanence against the attacks of fascism will create a great people’s movement as well. Now it is time for the whole society to rise up and end this atrocity. We should postpone our other duties and secondary issues and be united. Then millions will mobilize.”
