A Danish court sentenced Joanna Palani to nine months in prison for fighting against ISIS with YPG and the peshmerga forces. A petition to Justice Ministry of Denmark was started via change.org to save her from prison.
Joanna Palani, an Iraqi Kurdish woman from Ramadi, fought against ISIS with YPG/YPJ. After spending almost one year with peshmerga and YPJ, Palani returned to her home in Denmark where she was sentenced to nine months in prison.
An online petition was launched to save Palani.
“We demand that any charges or sentences against Joanna are dropped. The world must unite to fight ISIS terrorism and punishing Joanna Palani sends out the wrong signal. Denmark must unite against ISIS not punish those who fight them” the petition read.
