The Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress in Europe (KCDK-E) released a statement on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, wishing a happy holiday especially to the Kurdish people and all oppressed peoples. Drawing attention to the ongoing oppression, embargo, and attacks in the four parts of Kurdistan, KCDK-E emphasized that democratic resistance would prevail against these attacks and highlighted the importance of Abdullah Öcalan’s February 27 “Call for Peace and Democratic Society.”

The KCDK-E statement on Friday reads as follows:

"On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, we celebrate the holiday of the Islamic world, the oppressed peoples, the Kurdish people, and everyone fighting for freedom.

Threats continue throughout all parts of Kurdistan. For this reason, we need national unity more than ever before and must defend it even more strongly. Maxmur and Shengal are facing serious pressure and embargoes. ISIS-minded forces and authorities are not allowing our people to practice their faith and celebrate their holidays. Through their ongoing attacks, they are even preventing the celebration of holidays. Attacks on civilian residential areas are targeting the Kurdish people indiscriminately, including children, women, and the elderly. All these attacks will fail in the face of resistance by our people and the democratic opposition.

We hope that this holiday will serve as an opportunity to better understand and embrace the historic opportunity created by Leader Apo's (Abdullah Öcalan’s) “Call for Peace and Democratic Society,” the manifesto of the 21st century, for our people and all the peoples of the Middle East.

The Kurdish people, with their dignified stance, spirit of solidarity, and traditions, will continue to make this holiday an occasion for peace and solidarity.

Our people will celebrate the holiday by visiting each other, strengthening material and spiritual solidarity, supporting our people in need in Kurdistan, and strengthening national unity and the spirit of mutual solidarity.

We must stand up for our national unity more than ever against the ongoing threats of occupation in all parts of Kurdistan and protect this unity.

As KCDK-E, we hope that this holiday will bring freedom, equality, brotherhood, democracy, and justice to our people and to all oppressed people around the world. We wish all humanity, especially the Kurdish people, a happy holiday.

We hope that this holiday, through the “Call for Peace and a Democratic Society,” contributes to the growth of solidarity, sharing, and struggle.”
