At least 78 people have been killed and over 300 injured in the large-scale Israeli attack on Iran.
According to media reports, at least 78 people have been killed and 329 others injured in Israel's large-scale attack on Iran since last night. No official figures on casualties were initially available.
The Israeli air strikes in Tehran targeted military facilities and, above all, high-ranking officers. The targets were also hit in densely populated areas of the metropolis during nighttime attacks.
According to IRNA, those killed in targeted strikes in Tehran include the Chairman of the Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami, Commander of the Aerospace Force of the IRGC Brigadier General Amirali Hajizadeh, Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters Major General Gholamali Rashid, Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi, a nuclear scientist and president of the Islamic Azad University, and Fereydoun Abbasi, also a nuclear scientist and former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
In the meantime, President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that a "strong and legitimate" Iranian response would force “the enemy to regret its foolish action” and asked citizens to resist “psychological warfare.”
"This savage act, which violates all international commitments, confirms the criminal nature of the illegitimate Zionist regime, which has built its existence on occupation, aggression, and the killing of children," he said.
Pezeshkian vowed that the Islamic Republic would act decisively in response to aggression and when defending the country’s sovereignty.
