After the removal of İMC TV from Turksat on February 20, access to the TV channel’s website was blocked by the Information and Communications Technologies Authority (BTK).
Below is the BTK message on the İMC TV website:
“After technical examination and legal evaluation as part of the Law No: 5641, Information and Communications Technologies Authority has taken ADMINISTRATIVE MEASURES on this website (imctv.com.tr) as part of the BTK decision 490.05.01.2016.-151547 on 30/09/2016.”
İMC TV had begun broadcasting on May 1, 2011 and has offices in İstanbul, Ankara and Diyarbakır. The channel had been removed from Turksat satellite on February 26, 2011, and continuing to broadcast through Hotbird satellite and the internet.
The licences of 12 televisions and 11 radio stations across Turkey were cancelled as part of the 668 Decree Law that had taken affect after the declaration of a state of emergency.
The buildings of Denge TV, Birlik Medya TV and Van TV were also sealed.
