İsmail Çoban, a reporter for the Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat, which was recently closed with a decree, has been taken into custody in the mainly Kurdish city of Amed.
Police called Çoban's uncle Muhtullah Çoban today and stated that İsmail was in custody, and that his detention period had been prolonged for 24 hours.
Çoban is being held at the anti-terror department of Diyarbakır police directorate at the moment.
