Eutelsat protested in Stockholm

Eutelsat, the company that complied with Turkey’s order to end the broadcast of Med Nûçe TV and Newroz TV, was protested in the Swedish capital Stockholm.

Led by the Sweden Democratic Kurdish Society Center and Sara Kurdish Women’s Union, people of Kurdistan and their allies gathered in front of the French Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden around 12:00 and condemned Eutelsat’s closure of Med Nûçe TV and Newroz TV.

Protestors criticized Turkey and France for the closure of Kurdish TV channels, and said that the attacks on the free press would never reach their goal of silencing the people. Protestors tried to give embassy officials a letter of protest, but officials refused to take this letter. Afterwards, protestors announced that they would continue their protest until French officials accept the letter of protest.

Police officers came to the site of the protest upon the request of the French embassy, but did not intervene. Protestors chanted slogans against Turkey and France and ended their protest when French embassy officials finally took the letter of protest.
