Journalist Kibriye Evren works for Jinnews, a team of women editors and reporters focusing on women's issues.
Journalist Evren is accused of "being a member of an illegal organization" and "making propaganda for a terrorist organization". The 12th hearing of the trial was held at Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court. Evren and his lawyers, Resul Tamur and Pirozhan Karali, attended the hearing. Speaking at the hearing, Evren demanded her acquittal by stating that she did not know Veysel Sonsuz, a witness who testified against her.
Veysel Sonsuz said that - contrary to his earlier statement in the indictment - he had not witnessed the organizational activities of Evren.
Evren said that she was a journalist and worked at Jinnews adding that she was not involved in any political party.
Her lawyer Resul Temur stated that they did not accept the statements against his client and demanded that another witness be present at the next hearing and the files from Mersin be combined with this file.
The court board adjourned the hearing to 24 June.
