Gerçek Gündem editor Furkan Karabay, who was taken into custody at the police station where he went to collect a notification, was referred to the Istanbul Courthouse.
Karabay was accused of "targeting a person who took part in the fight against terrorism" and "slander" based on news he wrote on Thursday, was sent to the 7th Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest and sent to prison.
Karabay was detained for the first time on 7 December, when Justice Commission chair Bekir Altun Un, who came to the public agenda with a letter sent by Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor İsmail Uçar to the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK), filed a criminal complaint for "slander" and "insult". On that occasion, Karabay was released under judicial control.
