Journalist Rojin Altay released

Rojin Altay, a journalist working for Yeni Yaşam newspaper, has been released from detention after giving a statement to the prosecutor's office. She spent 4 days in custody.

Rojin Altay, a journalist working for Yeni Yaşam newspaper, has been released after giving a statement to the prosecutor's office and  after 4 days in custody.

Altay was taken into custody on 28 January at Istanbul's Sabiha Gökçen Airport when she was about to fly to Amed. 

She was held at the Istanbul Security Directorate before being taken to the Istanbul Courthouse on Wednesday.

Charged with "being a member of an illegal organization," Altay was asked about the demonstrations and meetings she had covered.

The journalist was eventually released.
