There is a tent protest in front of the Eutelsat building in Paris since Monday. The tent is set up every day between 11.00 and 15.00 in protest of Eutelsat stopping the broadcast of Med Nuçe and Newroz TV.
Med Nuçe’s broadcast was stopped on October 3 and Newroz TV’s on October 11, illegally and by the demand of the Turkish state.
On the third day of the protest where activists handed out flyers and called for public awareness, a group of protesters went to the Eutelsat building.
Protesters including European Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (KCD-E) Executive Board Member Murat Ceylan went to Eutelsat’s door with banners and placards to voice their concerns.
The activists hanged a banner with the Med Nuçe logo on it and a placard that read “Med Nuçe is the voice of the Kurdish people, you can’t silence it” on the walls of the building. Placards were placed on the floor at the entrance of the building.
During the demonstration, Murat Ceylan spoke to ANF and said, “We condemn Eutelsat’s decision to stop broadcasts of Med Nuçe and Newroz TV”. Ceylan expressed that this decision exposed a dirty collaboration of Eutelsat and the Turkish state and said the free press whose broadcasts are stopped in Turkey and Europe are the voice of the Kurdish people. Ceylan said: “We will continue to expose dictator Erdoğan, his dirty institution RTÜK (Radio and Television Supreme Council) and their dirty collaborator Eutelsat everywhere.”
Ceylan mentioned the Med Nuçe hearing to be held in Paris Commerce Court on October 26 and said: “Our people should support their voice more strongly.”
Med Nuçe had filed a criminal complaint against Eutelsat after the decision to stop their broadcast and appealed for a provisional injunction.
