Employees of the pro-Kurdish MED Nûçe TV channel, the broadcast of which was stopped by French company Eutelsat on Turkey's request, staged a protest in French capital city Paris. The demo in front of the Eutelsat building on Balard Street was also supported by representatives of many French parties and NGOs including Left Party, Anti-Capitalist Party, Communist Party and International Federation of Journalists.

'NO POWER CAN SILENCE OUR VOICE'

Journalist Heval Nesrin Aslan read the press statement on behalf of MED Nûçe employees and condemned Eutelsat's cooperation with the Turkish state. Aslan described the French company's decision as unlawful and unacceptable and demanded it be revoked immediately, saying: "No power can silence our voice".

LOQUEREL: FRANCE SHOULD END THE COMPLICITY

Speaking after, the Left Party's Eric Coquerel condemned the silence of France, Germany and Europe in the face of Turkey's pressures, saying that this silence was maintained on both government and public level.

Stressing that Kurds and all the democratic opposition in Turkey are under pressure, Coquerel called on France to end the complicity with Turkey and respect the freedom of press.

KAMENKA: WE WILL TAKE ACTION TO END THIS COMPLICITY

Journalist Patrick Kamenka from the French union SNJ-CGT and International Federation of Journalists also called for an end to the complicity of France and the European Union with Turkey. Kamenka stated that they will have talks with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and demand that this complicity be ended.

Olivier Besançenot from the Anti-Capitalist Party also supported the demonstrators and the demands they highlighted.

Kurdish media workers later ended the protest by vowing to continue their actions until they obtain a result.
