Eutelsat announced that after Med Nuçe, Newroz TV’s broadcast would also be stopped.
Newroz TV editor Zeynep Murat described the attack on their TV as part of the developments in North Kurdistan and said “We do not approach the treatment of Newroz TV separately from the situation of Kurdish people. Kurds have been insisting on a status for a hundred years. They use their legitimate rights to self defense and reconstruction for this purpose. They seek a way out of this crisis. After the closure of tens of TV and radio stations in Turkey, they have targeted Ned Nuçe TV. They now target us. They cannot tolerate us in the international arena.”
Murat stated that they covered the dubious events in Iran and informed everyone about them through tens of volunteers, and contributed to the development of Kurdish culture and language with its broadcast in the different dialects of Kurdish.
Newroz TV editor Zeynep Murat highlighted the all-out war the AKP government has been waging in Kurdistan and described the closure of Zarok TV as a part of these AKP policies. Murat said “Attacks on Newroz TV are also a part of these policies. As Newroz TV employees, we will not be silent. As part of the resistance against massacres, we will continue our journalism. Our TV had been broadcasting via Hotbird and Nilesat so far, and will continue its broadcast only via Nilesat. This means that it will not be accessible in Europe.”
