Nujiyan documentary shown in Qamishlo

Hilala Zêrîn, the producer of Nujiyan, actress Ferîde Zade and director Jînda Asmen presented the screening which was attended by many journalists and Qamishlo citizens.
Before the start of the screening, a minute’s silence was held for the martyrs.
Speaking about the purpose of the documentary, director Jînda Asmen said: "The aim of the film was to make the struggle of our comrade Nûjiyan Erhan known."
Nujiyan Erhan
Kurdish journalist Nujiyan Erhan, who was shot by a KDP sniper in March 2017. Nûjiyan Erhan was one of the journalists who reported the genocide of the Yazidi community in Şengal to the world public. The film was shown for the first time in Shengal last May.
Nûjiyan Erhan was from Urfa in Northern Kurdistan and her real name was Tuba Akyılmaz. She has worked for the Kurdish media since 2005 and stayed in Şengal from spring 2015 to document the ISIS genocide and the resistance against it. In the process, she conducted interviews with survivors, especially Yazidi women. She also trained Yazidis for journalistic work.
