The Association of Free Journalists (Özgür Gazeteciler Cemiyeti - ÖGC) shared the September report on the pressure and rights violations on the press with the public.
The report emphasized that September has been a 'coup month' for the press in Turkey and said: “Within this month, 18 journalists were detained and 11 of them were arrested. 46 journalists had their passports cancelled and they were prevented from going abroad.”
The report highlighted that 5 press institutions had been raided by the police and stated: “27 journalists are facing investigations because they supported the Özgür Gündem newspaper. This month was the month that the most opposition voices were silenced. A total of 23 media organs, 12 television networks and 11 radio stations, were stopped from broadcasting.”
