The notice sent by RTÜK (Radio and Television Supreme Council) regarding the closed radio and television networks includes the phrase “closed for posing a threat to National Security”.
RTÜK (Radio and Television Supreme Council) has decided to close more than 20 opposition radio and television networks. After Hayat TV And İMC TV television networks were closed down today, the police gave the network executives RTÜK’s notice on the closure decree.
The notice cites the Statutory Decree regarding the closure. The decree says: “In the meeting dated 27/09/2016 and numbered 2016/05 of the commission formed according to Statutory Decree No.668, Article 2, Section 4, the commission has decided to close the institutions listed in the attachment as they have been found to belong to or to have financial or other ties to structures, initiatives or groups, or terrorist organisations posing a threat to National Security according to the Statutory Decree No.668, Article 2, Section 4.”
