The six women journalists – Zeynep Kuray, Eylem Nazlier, Yadigar Aygun, Pinar Gayip, Esra Soybir, Serpil Ünal who were taken into custody in Istanbul on Saturday evening while protesting the detention of their colleagues last week were released.
In a message on Twitter one of the journalists, Eylem Nazlier wrote: “We have been released. We were kept in reverse handcuffs for hours. After I was taken into custody, I was tortured and beaten in the police vehicle. I'm still in pain because of a blow to my head. One day, they will surely give an account for this and the violations of our rights.”
