TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanardağ remanded in custody

TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanardağ has been remanded in custody.

TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanardag was taken into custody on 26 June on charges of "praising the crime and the criminal" and "making propaganda for a terrorist organization" during a live broadcast.

The police went to the television channel and took Yanardag into custody after the program.

Yanardag was brought to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan, and was questioned on the allegations of "praising the crime and the criminal" and "making propaganda for a terrorist organization".

The journalist was then referred to court today with a request for arrest by the Prosecutor's Office. The court accepted the request and remanded the journalist in custody.
