TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanardağ was taken into custody on Monday. He was detained on charges of "praising a crime and a criminal" and "conducting propaganda for a (terror) organization" after a live broadcast in which he commented on the aggravated isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan. The journalist was brought to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan to give his statement.

The prosecutor is expected to come to the courthouse in the afternoon.
