The General Command of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria announced that three of its members were killed in an attack carried out by ISIS.
According to the written statement on Sunday, the attack targeted a checkpoint on the Raqqa-Hesekê road.
The statement said, “Armed cells of the DAESH (ISIS) terrorist organization detonated a mine at around 9:00 a.m. today at the Sebah El Xêr checkpoint on the Raqqa-Hesekê road while a passenger and road safety patrol vehicle belonging to our forces was passing by.”
The statement continued: "As a result of the attack, three of our members were martyred while on duty. One of our members was injured and is receiving medical treatment. After reports of another mine in the area, our bomb and explosive experts are continuing search and sweep operations to render the mine harmless.
This terrorist attack took place at a time of increasing ISIS activity in northern and eastern Syria, particularly in the vicinity of Hol, and some villages in Raqqa and Hesekê, and carrying out attacks targeting the safety of civilians and regional stability.
As the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria, we commemorate our heroic martyrs and emphasize that we will continue their struggle. Our forces will carry out their sacred duty until the remnants of this criminal organization are completely eliminated. We hereby announce that search, investigation, and inquiry operations have been started to identify those involved in this cowardly attack. Anyone who attempts to disrupt the stability of our region and the security of our people will not escape punishment.”
