The Kurdistan Human Rights Organization has reported that at least 10 women were murdered and 9 women driven to suicide across Eastern Kurdistan in May 2025.

The data in the report indicates that violence against women continued systematically throughout the past month. According to the Human Rights Organization, at least 10 women were killed and 9 driven to suicide in May alone.

In addition, the organization stated that in 2024, a total of 158 women were murdered across Eastern Kurdistan and Iran, and 16,567 women were subjected to domestic violence.
