83-year-old seriously ill prisoner Mehmet Emin Özkan who is held in Diyarbakır D Type Prison tested positive for Covid-19 for the third time.

83-year-old seriously ill prisoner Mehmet Emin Özkan, who is held in Diyarbakır D Type Prison, was infected with Covid-19 together with his son Ahmet Özkan on 6 December after he was brought back from the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK). Özkan, who was taken to Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital on 8 December because his condition worsened and had breathing difficulties, was brought back to prison on 12 December before testing negative. Özkan was tested again on 20 December and the test was positive.

Nevzat Özkan, who spoke with his father on the phone, said that a test was carried out on Tuesday and this test was also positive. Özkan said that they are concerned about the condition of his father, who has been struggling with the corona virus for 24 days.
