The Justice vigil launched by the Şenyaşar family in front of the Urfa courthouse on March 9, 2021, marks its 658th day.
Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons in an armed attack in the Suruç district of Urfa on June 14, 2018, that involved AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives, has been holding a justice vigil for 658 days. Mother Emine is accompanied by her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who was injured in the same attack four and a half years ago.
The family continued today’s justice vigil under the heavy rain. Speaking here, Ferit Şenyaşar stated that he took his mother to a hospital before coming to the courthouse for the vigil and he was told that his mother needed to undergo an urgent operation. Emine Şenyaşar, however, insists that she will not leave the courthouse until justice is served.
Ferit Şenyaşar pointed to the speech of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, saying, “Erdoğan compared an unjust state to an unstable building. Everyone knows about the injustice we have been subjected to. Erdoğan cannot give a speech on justice for the world and Islamic states without first dealing with this injustice first.”
