KJAR representative in Europe: We stand for freedom, not for war

KJAR representative Meryem Fethi said that the Iran-Israel war is not the people’s war and Eastern Kurdistan is not a party to it.

The Free Women’s Community of Eastern Kurdistan (KJAR) European Representative Meryem Fethi, who spoke to ANF about the war between Iran and Israel in the Middle East, stated that this war has already existed for years and said: “This war has been carried out through proxy forces in countries such as Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria. Iran has long continued this war using such methods with the goal of becoming a regional power."

“On the other hand, Israel wants to increase its hegemonic power in the region, with the support of certain international and regional forces, in the redesign of the Middle East. In some parts of the world, including the Middle East and Ukraine, wars are being waged to restructure hegemonic powers. At this stage, the war has turned into a direct confrontation between Iran and Israel. Israel targeted Iran’s energy and nuclear facilities, and Iran responded. Once again, civilians have been targeted in this conflict,” she underlined.

Meryem Fethi emphasized that the purpose of this war is a power struggle in the Middle East and continued: “It is not for the benefit of the peoples, but for the capitalist and patriarchal system to reestablish its hegemony in the Middle East. Iran is being forced into submission. The regime in Iran is dictatorial, torturous, and sustained by executions, a system that has maintained itself through oppression for nearly fifty years.

Fethi pointed out that: “The peoples living in Iran are resisting this regime, but unfortunately, this war brings them no benefit. War causes poverty, destruction, displacement, and the fragmentation of families, while it serves the interests of arms dealers. The ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadi’ (Woman, Life, Freedom) revolution had an impact across Iran. After the killing of Jina Amini, the people of Iran rose up and voiced their opposition. But the regime responded to this uprising with torture, imprisonment, executions, and sought to suppress it with new massacres.”

Meryem Fethi stated that the people of Eastern Kurdistan (Rojhilat) are not a party to this war. She continued, “Our position must be clear. We are not on the side of Israel or the Iranian regime, nor on the side of the states that represent international capitalist systems. We are the people. We stand with the youth and women who fight for freedom, who struggle under oppression and denial. That is why we support a democratic and libertarian struggle and system.

As organizations representing the Kurdish people and leading their struggle for rights, we stand for a political stance that is grounded in the struggles of the Kurdish people and other peoples across all countries, including Iran. This is why we must be organized and prepared. As the people of Eastern Kurdistan, we are not a party to this war, which is being waged for psychological and hegemonic purposes.

Our people must be able to defend themselves based on a democratic and libertarian paradigm. To do this, we must be organized. However, this organization must be based on women’s freedom and women’s struggle, because the current system is built on hostility toward freedom and women. Against this, a women- and youth-centered struggle is essential.

Organizations such as the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK) and the KJAR have also expressed similar views in their statements; they clearly stated that they will defend the people, but that they will not be a party to the war."
