DIHA news agency reported on the death of yet another young man while in police custody. According to the report 35-year-old Resul Gur’s body has been taken by his family from the police. Gur was taken into custody at the Basaksehir Police Station in Istanbul last Wednesday. On Thursday police claimed that he committed suicide by throwing himself out of a window. An investigation about the police officers in Basaksehir Police Station was launched following the Gur family's doubts over what really happened.

Gur’s family took the body to Igdir to lay him to rest. During the funeral, his brother, Engin Gur, said: “Resul was arrested in 2004 and kept in prison for nine and a half months. Then, he actively worked for Peace and Democracy Party’s Youth Committee. I do not think this was a suicide. I saw my brother right after he died. His face was covered with bruises and lacerations. But there was no broken bone in his body. This is certainly a murder not a suicide. Now, we are waiting for the investigation to reach its logical conclusion.”
